A beautifully painted Tibetan prayer table - Circa 19th century. This piece is decorated with a traditional "Face of Glory" design, also know as Kritimukha. The sides are decorated with a dense floral design, with the back of the piece open.
These tables were used by Tibetan llamas to hold the ritiual instruments used in their daily prayers. Painted with crushed mineral pigments, these pieces are bright and vibrant with a thick patina and rich smell caused by years of yak-butter incense burning nearby.
Some minor imperfections may be present, such as smoke residue, scratches or dents. These imperfections are to be expected given the age of the table and it's daily use, and serve to further enhance the personality of the piece.
